Goodtype Brief

The Goodtype call for submission was a project I instantly took a shining to. I have recently become really interested in hand-type. I had started practicing my own hand drawn type as a side project from uni work. When I heard about the Goodtype call for submissions I thought it would be an ideal way to put my typographic interest to use.

I decided to take this on as a 1-2 day brief.

I decided to attempt the Goodtype brief as a quick 1/2-day turnaround brief. As I have recently become more interested in developing my own hand-drawn type, I thought this would be a fun challenge to push my skills further.

Type inspiration:

After looking at the examples shown on the Goodtype website I was able to begin thinking about ideas for my own typographic piece. I wanted to keep the style of my type similar to the style I had been practicing over the last couple of months. The examples seemed reasonably broad, which meant I had a lot of freedom with this brief.

As my work is often created digitally, I thought this would be a great way to experiment with an off-screen, hand-crafted process. It was also a new challenge and something which allowed me to experiment with different creative mediums.
